Mary Smith

Head of Inquest, Human Rights and Fatal Negligence Department

Mary specialises in medical negligence, inquests, and human rights law, with nearly 20 years of experience supporting victims of medical accidents and guiding families through inquest proceedings, investigations, and reviews involving public bodies. She has particular expertise in cases involving “cover-ups” following failures in care by the NHS and other public bodies.

Passionate about improving patient safety, Mary has served as a Trustee of AvMA (Action Against Medical Accidents and is a member of the Advisory Group for the Harmed Patients Alliance and is a regular media commentator.  Alongside AvMA, Mary played a key role in exposing the challenges faced by cancer patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. She appeared on Panorama alongside Deborah James (BowelBabe), delivered a keynote address at the Westminster Health Forum, and attended a Parliamentary reception to advocate for patient rights.

Mary has also sat on the LexisNexis UK Editorial Board for Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury, and contributed as an editor to the APIL Personal Injury Guide, published by LexisNexis.

Deborah Clark

Financial Controller, COFA, and Company Secretary 

With over 30 years of experience, Deborah is a Chartered Accountant and COFA she has been with the firm since its inception in 2017 and is a critical part of the firm’s management team. She brings a wealth of knowledge working in the Public and Private sector from blue chip companies as well as SME’s.

Helen Foan

Practice Manager

Helen Foan is an experienced project manager with an extensive career working in Project Management, Account Management, Systems and Operational roles in a variety of sectors. Helen has been with the firm since its inception in 2017 is a critical part of the firm’s management team.

Bronwyn Faull

Accounts Assistant

Bronwyn has been with the firm since 2018 and is a critical part of the Accounts Department. Prior to joining the Accounts Department Bronwyn was a Claims Administrator at the firm.

Rebekah is an experienced Paralegal with over 8 years of experience in law firms handling a range of matters from Debt Recovery to Financial Services. Rebekah is currently part-way through her CILEX qualifications and has been with the firm since its inception in 2017.

Rebecca is an experienced Paralegal and has recently passed her Barrister Training Course with a view to becoming a Barrister in the future.

Alistair Saul

Alastair is an experienced Paralegal. Prior to joining New South Law Alastair was a Paralegal at an FCA regulated Peer to Peer lending platform and a Trainee Solicitor at another firm of Solicitors specialising in Private Client and Conveyancing. Alastair hopes to qualify as a Solicitor in 2025.
